Janeen L. Massaros, J.D., brings her experience and insights as a mediator, evaluator, and professional trainer to her work in the field of alternative dispute resolution. Ms. Masssaros is a graduate of William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul, MN and holds an undergraduate degree in social work with an emphasis on communication, family relationship dynamics and community education. Since 1995, Ms. Massaros has assisted family members to hear and understand each other’s concerns regarding decisions about dissolution, children, finances, and parenting as sole proprietor of Southern Metropolitan Mediation Services. She has expanded her mediation practice to include conflict between adult family members regarding aging parents, guardianship/conservatorship, estates, inheritance and a variety of other issues regarding the elder law/elder care area. Ms. Massaros brings to her mediation practice the belief that self-determination is the key to successful resolution of conflict. Mediation sessions are designed to promote a respectful, collaborative discussion centered around resolution of the issues presented. Ms. Massaros is a qualified neutral on both the civil and family rosters under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice. She also conducts the certified training required by the Minnesota Supreme Court Office of Continuing Education for mediators to qualify for both the civil and family rosters and advanced training seminars for practitioners to enhance their skills in the mediation process. She has presented to a number of community groups, workplaces and schools on the topics of mediation, communication and conflict resolution skills, both locally and nationally.
