Elder Mediation Training is a three day program that will expand your skills into the growing field of elder mediation. Elder mediation helps families cope with issues such as care-giving for aging parents, health and safety concerns, and decision-making in a private and confidential setting. The workshop covers strategies for facilitating adult family conversations around issues like living arrangements, financial planning, medical decisions, adult guardianship and conservatorship, mental capacity, healthcare directives, wills, trusts, probate and estate disputes. Experienced trainers and ADR practitioners Janeen Massaros and John Lundblad also cover:
- Multi-party mediation,
- Considerations for intake,
- Understanding dementia and mental capacity,
- Family dynamics in decision-making for elder-related issues,
- Handling strong emotions with families in conflict,
- Helping families move forward, and
- Rule 114 Code of Ethics.
This class uses experiential learning through vignettes and role plays to help participants develop practical skills.
Lunch and light refreshments are included.
